Where is a great romantic dinner location inside the perimeter?
An Atlanta mainstay is La Grotta Ristorante Italiano, located at 2637 Peachtree Road. Dining here is like taking a step back into Old World charm and easy elegance. And even if you’re dining on the outdoor patio, you’d never know you are mere steps away from Peachtree Road. The Italian menu is extensive, and the service is like none you’ve ever experienced. Truly, an occasion to remember! Another favorite is Horseradish Grill, located at 4320 Powers Ferry Road by Chastain Park. The lighting is subdued, the atmosphere is inviting, and the service and food are both superb. The menu is reasonably priced and the wine list is extensive (and reasonable), so you won’t break the bank when wining and dining your date! A bit more casual is the outdoor patio at Haven Restaurant and Bar in Brookhaven, a must for laid-back people-watching. Located at 1441 Dresden Drive, this is a great spot to kick back and spend time with the one you love. Sunday nights feature half-priced wine, so it’s the perfect way to wind down your weekend and plan for the week ahead.
I’d love to find some alternative entertainment ideas that don’t cost a lot of money. Do you have any suggestions?
Of course we do! Here are a couple of our favorites that center around the galleries and museums in town. Check out one of the First Thursdays Gallery Walks during which various Buckhead art galleries are open from 7 to 10 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month, highlighting special exhibitions. Refreshments are available to ease you along the way! For more information, visit alanaveryartcompany.com. There is also a First Thursdays ArtsWalk Downtown held on the first Thursday of each month from 5 to 8 p.m. Among the participants are the Museum of Design Atlanta, Paige Harvey Art Studio and Georgia State University. On the first Saturday of the month, the High Museum of Art allows Fulton County residents and students who attend college or university in Fulton County free access to current exhibitions (subject to availability) and the permanent collection. Proof of residency or school attendance is required. The High Museum is located in Midtown at 1280 Peachtree St. For more info, call 404.733.4400. The Clark Atlanta University Art Galleries, located at 223 James P. Brawley Drive, houses an historical collection of African-American art and Hale Woodruff’s illustrious murals. It’s open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free. For more information, call 404.880.6102.
I absolutely love your annual 100 Best Restaurants issue. Last year’s is in tatters by the time the new edition arrives! I’m curious, though, how do you determine which restaurants make the cut?
Thanks! We’re pretty proud of the 100 Best Restaurants issue, too! The best thing about it is that we don’t determine who makes the cut–our readers do. The restaurants featured in the issue are those favored and frequented by JEZEBEL readers. To have your voice heard, participate in the restaurant survey posed online at jezebelmagazine.com. You also can select your choices for the “best ofs” in a variety of categories such as steaks, sushi and cocktails. And if you need another copy of the 100 Best Restaurants issue before the new one comes out, just give us a buzz!
