Though her new album–which includes the No. 1 Billboard dance chart airplay hit singles “Rollercoaster” and “Stars”–is titled Pretty Mess, there’s nothing disheveled about Erika Jayne. To the contrary, her sleek and shiny hair, immaculate complexion and classic-yet-innovative style make her appear effortlessly put together. Her overall look complements her music, which is fun, sexy and bursting with energy. Her songs, which are a compilation of dance, pop and electronica, have been influenced by her passionate interest in singers like Prince and Kylie Minogue and iconic Hollywood designers such as Edith Head and Adrian Adolph Greenberg. She exudes a sexy confidence, finding her stride where Old World glamour meets modern-edge temptress. The result is an artistic, showstopping musical identity. “I want people to have fun, dance and escape into fantasy,” says the enthusiastic singer-songwriter. “I want the listener to take a sexy little trip away from their lives.” And what an escape! As this skilled beauty’s singles top the charts, and with the upcoming album coming out on Aug. 11, Jayne makes time in her busy life to maintain her enviable glow. “Women are so busy taking care of others that we often forget to take time out for ourselves,” Jayne says. “It’s okay to make yourself a priority.” And when this jet-setting pop star gets stage ready, she knows exactly how to primp and prep for good measure. Her best secret to staying so fresh is simple, proper maintenance. “Lots of water and lots of sleep,” she advises. “Always wash your face before you go to sleep, and moisturize!”
With parties, photo shoots, shows and events, Jayne never forgets to keep up with her beauty routine, understanding that in order to shine in the spotlight and on stage, upkeep is very important. “Being well-groomed shows attention to detail; people notice these things.” But, of course, playing with beauty products is fun, too, and this stylish siren loves to pique her curiosity by trying new things. “I’m always looking for something I haven’t seen before. That’s exciting!” JEZ caught up with this rising talent to scoop the products she uses to look flawless on stage.
The world-traveling Atlanta-born-and-bred star still calls Atlanta home when she gets a reprieve from spending time on stage and in the recording studio in Los Angeles, where she bases her music career. When coming home to Atlanta each season, she knows exactly where to shop. “For products in general in Atlanta, Phipps [Plaza] and Lenox [Square] mall still do it for me,” she says. Check out the track “Run Along.” “It’s my Atlanta song. I love my hometown.”
